Good evening fellow football fans,

for anyone that hasn't seen it, here's how next season's league is lining up. Some on-going rivalries as well as some new grounds to tick off. Looks tasty, and pretty open!

Yep, agree with LJDV that the new league looks ' pretty open ' with no major big hitters in it. If The Rams can retain all the players who won last away at Glossop, then we could do really well next season.

Blimey....some positivity!!!
Come on everyone, let's look forward with some optimism.
Next season does look like being an open league (No South Shields, Scarborough or Hyde - all big spenders) so the opportunity is there for a highly competitive and enjoyable campaign.
Roll on August!

Assuming now that three leagues below the prem, that only champions get promoted, or is there a playoff system of sorts?

An excellent question posed by Maxibo. If there are no ' play offs ' , then it certainly takes the shine of the league restructuring for me. What, no play-offs ??????????????? However, if the bottom six get relegated from the Premier Division, then they can re-name it The Squeaky Bum Premier Division !

Just for the record, here are the finishing positions of the former Div 1 South teams who will now play in our League.
Chasetown 5th - play-offs semi-finalists.
Leek Town 7th
Kidsgrove Athletic 18th
Newcastle Town 20th
Market Drayton Town 21st

nb - now updated to include Chasetown

Just seen a notification on the NPL website which involves a slight change to the allocation of clubs to the new Evo-Stik West league. Brighouse Town have now been moved across to the Evo-Stik East League. and have been replaced with Chasetown FC. Looking at where they are situated, this potentially looks like a Rammy Rocket away day down to the West Midlands!!!

Don't know, and very much guessing at this stage.
There are now 4 leagues at Step 3 and 7 leagues at step 4, so any logical ups & downs doesn't work. So my guess is as follows:
The top team in each of the 7 feeder leagues at Step 4 will get automatic promotion - to "a pool".
Teams occupying positions 2 - 5 will play-off and the 7 winners will also be promoted to "the pool".
The bottom 3 in each of the 4 leagues at Step 3 will be relegated together with the 2 worst 4th from bottom clubs - based on points/game.
The end result - 14 promotions & 14 relegations.
Clubs will then be allocated to the most appropriate league.
That is only a guess!!
COYR! COYR!! COYR!!!

Statto - thanks for your posting and observations. Been able to give this matter a little more thought now, and unless I am missing the obvious, then the promotion issues as far as the Northern Premier League are concerned should be relatively straightforward. The bottom 4 in the Prem Division would be relegated, and the Champions of both Div 1 East and Div 1 West promoted. There would also be play-offs of teams finishing 2 to 5 in both Div 1 leagues to promote the 2 play-off winners. 4 down and 4 up. Why should it be any different than that ? Why should events in other Premier Leagues affect what goes on in our Northern Prem league ? , or am I missing the obvious ?
