Another tough away fixture for The Rams. Atherton Collieries has not been a happy hunting ground for The Rams of late, having lost there twice last season. No doubt we will have to bolster our defence as sadly can't see Deano fit to play. However, if The Rams can sustain the same level of effort and commitment they showed in the second-half against Kidsgrove yesterday, then it's all to play for and more finely balanced. What is of concern is that none of our strikers have managed to score in ' open play ' in any of our 3 games to date. Need to kick-off with Golden Boot Gassy, Dom and Deeg's on the pitch. Isn't that how we finished off at Kidsgrove ?

Deserved win,not the best performance but a win.
Great defending at the end, players putting their bodies on the line putting tackles in to defend our goal.
Jamie Rother great effort today in midfield (MOM).
Gassy worked tirelessly up front.
Good effort all round.

Can't praise the players highly enough for the two performances over the Bank Holiday weekend

I also went for Jamie Rother as MOM, but plenty of other contenders for that accolade. Never really looked under any threat once we went 3-1 up and when Atherton put a little late pressure on us, our defence were totally determined that they would not get past us. First class attitude

Still got Gregg Daniels and Tom Kennedy to come back and my only concern, in terms of playing staff, is we are still light up front. Gassy is looking as good as we've seen him since he returned to The Riverside, but really need Ben Deegan to be offering more. Hearing that Dominic Marie has left the club, and can't see many tears being shed over that, but will free up a squad place to bring in a new forward.

Class result that, most teams will struggle there. Mate who support colls seemed pretty impressed. Said rammy outmuscled them and deserved to win great to hear.

Not many teams will go to Atherton Coll's this season and come away with 3 points. A really determined all round performance from The Rams. Thought Thommo and Ryan were immense at the back, and a top performance by Sam with some fabulous saves and blocks. Gassy chased the ball down all afternoon and was unlucky his spectacular over-head kick went just wide. Worth the admission fee alone to watch Jerome play and coolly almost chip the penalty in - twas Cantonesque.
A good August Bank holiday for The Rams.
