Rams sign experienced Linwood

Ramsbottom United's latest signing, as they prepare for life in Evo-Stik Division One North, is experieced central defender Paul Linwood.

he 32-year-old has recently been at Welsh Premier Division side GAP Connah's Quay, and was on the bench for the club's first ever foray into European Football, going out of the Europa League qualifiers to Serbian side FK Vojvodina.

He has now moved on to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium thanks to the efforts of joint-managers Paul Fildes and Mark Fell, who were both keen to add his experience to the new-look squad.

Having begun his career at local side Tranmere Rovers for whom he played 44 games in the Football League, he moved on neighbours Chester City, after a long spell with Wrexham, and turned out 122 times for the Deva Stadium outfit.

Grimsby Town and Fleetwood Town followed before returning to Chester where he made a further 58 appearances.

Paul has spent the last two seasons with two successful sides in Salford City and GAP Connah's Quay, and will be hoping to enjoy another rewarding campaign, this time with the Rams.
