Ramsbottom United are delighted to announce the return of true goalscoring legend.
Lee Gaskell arrives from Stalybridge Celtic 18 months after leaving the Riverside for Darlington 1883. The Bury-based hit-man made 224 appearances for the Rams, scoring 113 goals in two previous spells and met with manager Mark Fell on Tuesday night to commit his future to the club he calls home.
At 31, Gaskell remains on the North West top non-league strikers, his 113 Ramsbottom goals make him the clubs' second highest all-time goalscorer behind Russell Brierley and he meets up with this new (and old) team-mates on Thursday night before being available for selection for the Rams trip to Tadcaster on Saturday.
Rams boss Mark Kell says Gaskell will have a big role to play for the remainder of the season, "at this level he's as good as anyone out there and we're really pleased to add him to our squad. He's a winner and a goalscorer and will complement our existing forwards. We still have a good opportunity to gate crash the play-offs with 13 big games ahead of us, so when opportunities arise to sign a player of Lee's quality, and you have the ambition we have at the club, then it's a no-brainer."
Lee is expected to make his latest debut for the Rams at Tadcaster at the weekend, with a homecoming on Tuesday night at the Riverside when the Rams play Farsley.
