The Rams made 2 changes from the 4-1 FA Trophy defeat to AFC Fylde on Tuesday, Jamie Rainford & Kelvin Lugsden returned in place of Ruben Jerome & Ryan Ellison who both dropped to the bench.

Rammy started well in a very even game, Irywah Gooden had a shot saved by Colwyn Bay’s keeper Andrew Coughlin on nine minutes, Less than a minute later Kelvin Lugsden’s shot made the keeper make a diving safe to deny the Rams an early lead.

Kennedy had a good effort eight minutes later, his shot from the edge of the box went over the bar.

In the final 20 minutes of the first half, it was very even. Ashley Woods had Colwyn Bay’s best chance of the half on 32 minutes his header bounced off the bar for Eddie Moran to chest down for Sam Ashton to collect safely

Into the second half now, Rammy had chances before they eventually took the lead. The first came nine minutes into the second half when Moran’s cross was headed just over the bar by Colwyn Bay defender Will Bell, if it had been a couple of inches lower it would have been an own goal.

Fourteen minutes into the second half, Irywah Gooden had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Liam Corrigan. Gooden then produced some good footwork six minutes later it was challenged well by the Bay defence.

Carey had a good chance from 30 yards with 18 minutes to go that was pushed wide by Andrew Coughlin.

The best chance for the visitors came with 5 minutes to go, Pritchard shot was saved well by Rams number 1 Sam Ashton.

Rams took the lead with 3 minutes to go, Nic Evangelinos played the ball to Ruben Jerome who squared to Jamie Rainford who slotted home from 6 yards out.

That goal 3 minutes from time was the winner for the Rams to put them up to 7th in the Evo Stik West Division
